I need your opinion: which do you like best?

Hey hey!

So FWA is in the process of creating a new logo.  Given we don’t have the funds to hire a graphic designer (tho a dear Kenyan friend–Mahmood Juma, aka “Snoop”– has been helping out with the design…asante sana mi araña…and my old colleague Rich Jeong with the tech stuff..thanks!), yours truly is trying her best.  Here are some of my attempts.

Please comment below about whether or not you like the abstract mother/child image.  If so, which color scheme/style do you like best?  Otherwise, what ideas would you have?

Thanks!

  1. I think you’re a brilliant designer. I love them all! Just don’t use the one with the backwards E, it’s confusing as all get out. You could go through a different color scheme for different publications, or a different one each year. Nice work!

Thanks, Becca! I’ve thought about just a variety of colors using the same image as well. What do you think of Ruth’s comment…does it come out as a clown face?

Love…and let’s talk really soon please!

Alex, I like the brown and red color scheme best.

When I first opened the graphic, though, I saw a sort of clown face — not a mother and child. I’m not sure how that could be adjusted — or if perhaps I’m the only one that saw it that way.

Thanks, Ruth! The red and brown was the first one I did…I gravitate towards those colors as well, tho the staff wanted me to show a variety of brighter colors.

I’m going to have to think about the clown face issue! Not the image we want to give.

      I hope you are well.
      Peace,

I think all of them are great designs. Its just a matter of putting what we call “a face” in it. This basically means you have to choose the one that best represents your logo and moto. But thus really cool!!

Thanks, Benjamin! That is definitely the challenge…what colors represent us? What image captures women, health, peace, HIV, justice, rights? I’ve gained a very deep appreciation for graphic designers after doing this!

      Thanks for your feedback.

My 2 cents: not the ones with the sentence in the local language that only locals understand, neither the one with the big E. The rest is fine.

I would go for the blue or the green. Green is the color of hope, so why not.
The brown is fine as well.

    Nice work!

PS: thanx for your recent report about rapes in Congo, I’m gonna read it.

Hey hey! Thanks for your thoughts. What do you think if we put the Kirundi proverb in multiple languages (faded, like the peace t-shirts)?

Let me know what you think of the report. We had to do the report super quickly to respond to a funder, but it’s a really interesting program overall.

      Hope you’re well.
      peace,

hey! I vote for either the second blue one (with the address on the left, next to the logo) or the same one in red- I think I like the red better, but the blue is a little more noticable.

    Hope all is well!

Hola guapa! Thanks for the feedback.

      How’s law school coming?

Hope you are well!!! Sorry I’m so crazy out of touch and owe you who knows how many emails!!

      Love,
      alex

No problem, amor! I know things must be crazy for you as well- law school is going well, but I actually really miss working…living in a world of academia can be really frustrating

Also, I read through your Displaced Survivors of Rape report- fantastic job! It sounds like you’re getting to do some really wonderful work. I wish I hadn’t sold my soul in loans and could come see you!

        Besos y abrazos,
        Lauren

    hey lady-
I love the red and brown, but I also think the green sticks out a bit better and stays in your memory. I love the Kirundi proverb, but would love the translation too to know what it means… maybe you could do kirundi and french and english to show to multiplicity of linguistic cultures that FWA crosses in its staff? and the mom and baby are perfect, lovely.

I like the brown and red best. The blue is too UN, green means ‘green’ these daze. I prefer fewer words to more words.
    Great work ‘Awesome Alex’!
